Hill Country Shelter & Sanctuary
Since PAWS Shelter and Humane Society opened its doors to care for the abandoned and stray animals of Hays County and Central Texas almost a quarter century ago, the area has experience explosive growth in both human and animal populations. Today, the shelter is faced with an ever-growing capacity strain. Learning of our dramatically increased need for a larger space, Shirley Alexander, a woman of immeasurable kindness generously donated 40 acres of gorgeous Hill Country land to PAWS on which to build a larger facility.
This future Hill Country Shelter & Sanctuary location is situated on Highway 165 between Dripping Springs and Blanco, Texas. Here, PAWS envisions a full service shelter to ultimately include a complete campus of services for abandoned and stray animals including walking trails, a memorial garden, individual dog runs and training fields.
The PAWS Hill Country Shelter & Sanctuary is destined to be a true celebration of the human-animal bond, a place where we can continue our efforts to end animal neglect, cruelty, abuse and abandonment and begin love for all involved.
But to make this new, expanded capacity facility a reality, PAWS needs your help.
In addition to the land donation, PAWS has also been promised building supplies, but at an estimated cost to build the facility of $600,000, or about $150.00 per square foot, we have a long trail ahead.
Buy a Square Foot. Buy a Run. Build a Shelter.
As PAWS’ gift to you for underwriting a square foot ($150.00) or more, PAWS will add your donation to a permanently displayed Appreciation Board at the new shelter, along with a personalized inscription, recognizing your generosity. A lasting recognition for your generosity in helping us help those who have no voice of their own.
